These terms cover using shipboard.lol and listing a project on it. shipboard.lol is run by Daniel Bragg ("we", "us"). By listing a project, you agree to these terms.

What a listing is

  • A listing puts your project on the public board. It doesn't buy a rank or change a score.
  • Scores come from a public, versioned formula (how scoring works). We may change the formula; a change gets a new version number and is announced before it takes effect.
  • You can list a project only for repos you control, verified through the GitHub App.

Price, renewal, and cancelling

  • A listing is an annual subscription, billed by Stripe: $29 a year per project. The first 100 projects pay $15 a year, locked in while the listing stays active.
  • Your listing renews automatically every year at the current price for your listing until you cancel. We email you a reminder before each renewal.
  • You can cancel online at any time from your dashboard. The listing then runs until the end of the year you've paid for, and doesn't renew.
  • Refunds: ask within 14 days of a payment and we'll refund it in full. After 14 days, you can still cancel any time and the paid year runs out; we don't give partial refunds.
  • If a project moves to the Graveyard, its listing won't renew. When it ships again, you can resume the listing.
  • If a listing lapses, the project leaves the board, but we keep tracking its activity so it's ready if you renew.

Your content

  • You're responsible for your project name, pitch, link, and epitaph, and you confirm you have the right to publish them.
  • You let us show that content on shipboard.lol and in shares of your project (for example, preview cards on X).
  • Pitches and epitaphs must follow the rules. We may hide text that breaks them; we never rewrite it, and you can write new text at any time.

Fair play

Don't try to game the score (for example, commit floods or fake history). Patterns like that are reviewed by a person, and any penalty shows as a labeled line on the project's breakdown. If a project keeps gaming the score after penalties, we may delist it, and that listing isn't refunded.

Unclaimed entries

We may show public open-source repos as labeled "Unclaimed" entries built from public GitHub data. Maintainers can claim them or have them removed at any time.

Ending a listing

You can delist a project at any time. Its activity data is deleted within 30 days. We may remove a listing that breaks these terms.

Liability

  • The service is provided as is. We work to keep scores accurate and the site up, but can't promise it's never wrong or never down.
  • To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim about shipboard.lol is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

The rest

  • These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California.
  • We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the date at the top of this page.
